Encouraged by yesterday’s results, I wanted to try creating another linocut, but wanted something easy to cut and more formal than anything I could draw by hand.
This lead me to search for simple, easy patterns, and I came across this coffee cup. (While it’s OK to copy art for purposes of learning, it’s not OK to sell the results.)
I’m pretty pleased with the latest effort, and it was definitely educational! It’s harder than it appears to get the cuts just exactly perfect 🙂
In addition, I also gained experience with printing; as the results show, it’s hard to get good coverage over the entire print, especially if there are fine lines, and by the same token, it’s also easy to get too much ink and fill in those fine lines. Practice, practice and more practice.
I tried a new color combination today, and both the red and blue two-tone and the final purple color are bright and colorful.
Maybe after I gain more experience and start creating my own designs I’ll open an Etsy shop. For now, you can enjoy the results right here.
