and good genes … Sheryl took her 89 year old aunt up to Salina for eye surgery today. During the course of the pre-op discussion it came out that Adelia had only been in the hospital one other time in her whole life! That was for an illness, so today was her first ever surgical procedure.
As she said, “I’ve spent lots of time in hospitals with other people, but I’ve only been admitted once in my life.” Well, given that this was an outpatient procedure, I guess her record of one hospital stay in 89 years is still intact.
As I was exclaiming my surprise at this, Sheryl told me I sounded just like the pre-op nurse; we were all pretty much flabbergasted to learn of Adelia’s remarkably good health all these years.
I don’t think we make ’em like they used to.
