A few days ago I was in the mood to sew something. I didn’t want to just make another random quilt block; I almost have enough of those to make a (hodge-podge of blocks) quilt.
I was thinking of a small log cabin quilt, as that’s been my favorite for the past few months. I looked at my Quilt in a Day book for ideas and found a small, lap sized, scrappy log cabin quilt.
This is called a scrappy log cabin quilt and was designed to be created from one “Jelly Roll” (pre-packaged set of 40 strips, 2.5 inches by 44 inches, in complementary patterns).
That’s fine, but it meant the light tone “logs” had to use colors that are perceived as darker in tone, since there wasn’t enough of the lights to go around. If I were doing it again, I would use two jelly rolls to work around this.
These blocks are 14 inches, to this is a nice lap robe size, 42×56, even before adding a border.
